Ryan Newman on pole for Eastern Oil and Propane 100

For the seventh time in his  NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour career, Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series veteran Ryan Newman will start on the pole at the start of the Eastern Propane and Oil 100 at New Hampshire, running a 28.763 around the one-mile oval.

Today’s race will be the first for Newman this season.

“Hopefully, this cloud cover will help for cooling the tires off,” said the 2008 Daytona 500 champion. “Speeds are going to be up, still, but the track temperature’s going to be down. Gary Putnam and the guys did a really good job with the car, and we were quick yesterday in practice and backed it up today.”

Behind the Indiana native were Doug Coby, All-Star Shootout winner Justin Bonsignore, Chase Dowling, and Eric Goodale. Sixth was Jon McKennedy, followed by Matt Swanson, Blake Barney, Patrick Emerling, and Calvin Carroll.

The Eastern Propane and Oil 100 will air on NBCSN Thursday night at 7:25 p.m. Eastern.
