Caraway Speedway unveils March Madness Tour Modified event

Caraway Speedway unveiled on Monday the creation of a new event, March Madness, an Open Tour Type Modified event for Saturday, March 15.

The 75-lap race pays $5,000-to-win and $1,000 to start.

“When you have been around racing as long as our family, traditions are very important,” said track promoter Darren Hackett. “We’ve had a Modified race in March for many, many years, so it felt right to do this open modified event.”

The race will take place on qualifying tires and will use the North-South Shootout rules.

“With the purse and the race procedures, we think it’s a good early season option for all Modified teams,” added Hackett. “We hope to host some of our friends from up north, too.”

The Carolina Pro Late Model and Carolina 602 Modifieds will also be part of the event. While a full schedule is set to be announced, racing will get underway at 5 p.m.

Matt Weaver is the owner and founder of Short Track Scene. Weaver grew up in the sport, having raced himself before becoming a reporter in college at the University of South Alabama. He also has extensive experience covering NASCAR, IndyCar and Dirt Sprint Cars.
