Mother Nature has won another one. With a gloomy weekend forecast ahead for North Woodstock, Nh, NASCAR and track officials made the decision Thursday to postpone Saturday’s (June 20) scheduled event at White Mountain Motorsports Park for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. The Thunder in the Mountains 200 is now scheduled for Saturday, July 18.

While the track will continue as scheduled with their local divisions, all parties agreed to postpone the Whelen Modified portion of the event due to the risk of weather, with multiple teams traveling from out of the region.

“This isn’t a decision either ourselves as the track or NASCAR took lightly but one we both feel is best for everyone involved,” WMMP managing partner Cris Michaud said in a track press release. “We’ve already lost one Saturday and we’re pushing to try and make sure our weekly teams don’t lose another.”

The 0.25-mile New Hampshire Bullring has played host to three previous Whelen Modified events, the first coming back in 2020. Justin Bonsignore, Doug Coby and Kyle Bonsignore are the three previous winners at the track.

The Whelen Modifieds are now slated to return to action on Wednesday, July 1, with Seekonk Speedway hosting the Tour’s midweek showdown.
