Justin Bonsignore paces Musket 250 practice

Justin Bonsignore keeps on rolling.

The Holtsville, New York, driver rolled into New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Friday afternoon and posted the fastest lap time in both practice sessions in advance of the inaugural NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Musket 250.

Bonsignore, who has seven wins in the first 13 races this season, has finished on the podium in nine races and leads the championship standings by 81 points.

The fast time for Bonsignore was a 28.870 seconds (131.929 mph), which came in the morning practice round. He also paced the final 45-minute session of the day with a time of 28.883 seconds driving the No. 51 Phoenix Communications Inc. Chevrolet.

Doug Coby, a five-time and defending series champion, was second fastest overall in practice. Coby drove the No. 2 Mayhew Tools Chevrolet to a fast lap of 28.872 seconds (131.920 mph) and will look for his fifth New Hampshire win on Saturday afternoon.

Andy Seuss, who has one prior top five finish in 19 starts at the New Hampshire oval, was third. Ron Silk, who has two wins at the ‘Magic Mile’ to his credit, was fourth, followed by rising modified star Chase Dowling.

Jeff Rocco was sixth, followed by Ronnie Williams, Matt Swanson, Timmy Solomito and Patrick Emerling.

The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour returns to the track for qualifying at 5:30 p.m. on Friday evening. The inaugural Musket 250 will take the green flag on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
