Need to Know: Cleetus McFarland Late Model Series Debut at Berlin

Courtesy: Garrett Mitchell Facebook

Cleetus McFarland announced back in June that he would be launching a new Pro Late Model Series, with races at Berlin Raceway in Michigan and The Freedom Factory in Florida, as part of an extended effort for the YouTube star to gain valuable on track experience. The Inaugural event of the Cleetus McFarland Late Model Series is set to roll on Saturday, August 15th in front of a sold-out crowd at Berlin.

Here are things you should going into to this event.

Michigan 100

The race is being billed as the Michigan 100, but that is actually in reference to the Crown Vic race being held tonight, also in front of a sold-out crown at Berlin. The Big Ass Lakes 75 is Saturday’s Pro Late Model 75 lap feature around the 7/16 mile oval.

Berlin Raceway

Berlin Raceway is a 7/16-mile (0.438-mile or roughly 0.7-kilometer) paved oval race track. Located in Marne, Michigan, it features 13 degrees of banking in the turns and 9 degrees of banking on the straightaways. Using the term straightaway is a stretch by many, as the view from above shows the speedway is more round than straight.

The Rules

This race is being ran under the same rules package as the UARA National Tour, which just completed the annual running of the Battle at Berlin 250, on Wednesday.

Ricky Brooks and company will handle all technical inspection.

The Prize

$20,000.00 to the race winner.
