The winners of the South Boston 200 and Hampton Heat 200 respectively will receive guaranteed entries into the main event of the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 at Martinsville Speedway.
This guarantees that a contender for the NASCAR Late Model Stock Virginia Triple Crown does not miss the race due to woes in qualifying or the heats. South Boston, Langely and Martinsville make up a mini-championship of sorts where the driver with the best average finish across these three summer marquee events receives a financial bonus.
Last year, that bonus was $7000, $3000 and $1000 for the top-three averages.
“The ValleyStar Credit Union is packed with layers of tradition, intense competition and, most importantly, heart and soul,” said Clay Campbell, President of Martinsville Speedway. “For 30 years it’s been a cornerstone event for teams, drivers and all of us here at Martinsville Speedway, and celebrating this anniversary with some of the most passionate fans in the business is really special.”
To wit, the 2025 race is the 30th anniversary running. It will be interesting to see what the purse is for the race with the CARS Tour increasing the Throwback Race at Hickory to $50,000. Martinsville most recently paid $32,000, which itself was a response to the CARS Tour paying $30,000 to win in the Old North State Nationals.
The Virginia Triple Crown kicks off this summer with the first race set for June 28 at South Boston Speedway followed by the second race at Langley Speedway on July 19. The ValleyStar Credit Union 300 is September 27.
