Kade Brown Confirmed as Bobby Isaac 150 Winner

Under scrutiny from reigning track champion Landon Huffman, Hickory Motor Speedway released a statement on Tuesday confirming Kade Brown as the Bobby Isaac Memorial 15o winner.

A spindle was removed from the car to be measured, and by one account, deemed not in allowance of the rules at the track with the results not being made official until Tuesday night. The statement reads as follows:

“Kade Brown would be confirmed today as the winner of the 47th Annual Bobby Isaac Memorial race on Saturday Sept. 2nd. The results of the 150 lap Memorial race had been unofficial, pending a measurement on a questionable spindle on the Kade Brown car. With the Labor Day weekend, unfortunately, it took a couple days to gather the research necessary to make the correct decision. Speedway General Manager Kevin Piercy stated:

“Time is not what is important here, making the correct decision for any of our competitors, is worth the wait. All of these teams have a spent an entire season trying to reach their goals, and it’s important that Hickory Motor Speedway officials take the time necessary to make the correct decision.”

How the track ultimately reached this decision and what manner of review was utilized remains an open question.

Championship night for Hickory will take place on Saturday September 16. The event will be free to attend in the grandstands thanks to a partnership with the Catwaba County United Way.
