The pressure is off for Myatt Snider in his return to Late Model Stock racing this weekend at Concord Speedway.

The 21-year-old successfully transitioned to the ARCA Racing Series during the summer and even picked-up a win in his debut at Toledo Speedway. This was a continuation of a trend that began last season when he contended for the CARS Tour Late Model Stock championship and dominated the prestigious Myrtle Beach 400.

Snider was a late bloomer in terms of when he started his racing career and when he found success, but he’s making up for lost time this season, and hopes to pick up his first CARS victory on Saturday night in the Lead 2 Real Estate Group 200.

“Last year was my first time ever racing at Concord and we took to it really quickly,” Snider told Short Track Scene on Thursday. “We probably should have won that race but got dumped (contact with Deac McCaskill) right at the end. So yeah, I’m coming back and I really want to get a win and kind of make up for that.”

Snider finished third in the championship battle last season and rightfully treated Late Model racing like the priority it was. But now that his part-time ARCA deal with Cunningham Motorsports has taken over as his main racing gig, he hopes the semi-casual nature of this weekend will pay dividends.

“It certainly didn’t feel casual last year,” Snider said. “But we’re just here to have fun this weekend. This is a home race for us and I know I’m capable of winning.”

Even though Snider hasn’t competed in a Late Model race since April 16 at Orange County, he’s not expecting any sort of rust. To him, a race car is a race car and he doesn’t expect the tiny differences to slow him down on Saturday.

“If I were going from a stock car to a sprint car, that would take some time,” Snider said. “But these cars are only slightly different from each other so it’s going to be me against the track. I really think this is going to be fun and I’m hoping we can come away with the win.”

Qualifying for the twin events start at 6:45 p.m. with the Late Model Stock green flag coming at 8 p.m.  A live PPV broadcast will be provided by RaceFeedX.
