Mike Looney continued to showcase the speed of his No. 87 Harrison’s Workwear Chevrolet by taking his second CARS Tour pole of the season at Dominion Raceway on Saturday night.
Now that the track position is secured, Looney is focused on finally bringing home that elusive first victory.
“There’s a long way to go,” Looney said. “Nobody has that much experience with the tire at this track but we’ve done everything that we can do. It’s all in the Lord’s hands now so we’re going to try and keep the fenders on it and put it all together.”
Looney has been competitive in all four CARS Tour races he has entered this year but circumstances outside of his control, including two fuel pickup issues, have prevented him from obtaining a Top 5 finish this year.
An extremely tough field consisting of the most recent CARS Tour winners in Kaden Honeycutt and Justin Johnson will be chasing Looney tonight but he is determined to do what is necessary to claim win number one.
