Carson Haislip’s Wake County DQ rescinded

Andy Marquis

Carson Haislip was disqualified following Wake County Speedway’s weekly racing Late Model Twin 40’s on Friday, August 22, until he wasn’t.

After the races, Haislip’s shock was sent to South Boston to be teched. After further review from NASCAR, it was deemed the shock was illegal and he was disqualified. However on Wednesday, August 26, Wake County Speedway announced that the disqualification was retracted, as the shock that was deemed illegal did not actually come from Haislip’s car, but rather it came from Daniel Vuncannon’s car.

The shock builder of Vucannon’s shock that was deemed illegal filed an appeal that was heard Wednesday morning. More info is expected to be released on Thursday.

Short Track Scene reached out to track owner and promoter Charlie Hansen regarding the situation.

“I have no comment at this time,” Hansen said. “Upon the release from NASCAR which is expected tomorrow, I will do a Facebook live.”

Short Track Scene will provide updates on the story when they become available.
