Landon Huffman signs deal for 2024 CARS Tour camapign

Landon Huffman will return to CARS Late Model Stock Tour next season behind the wheel of a Jimmy Mooring Racing entry.

The 27-year-old hoped to remain in the series after being notified that Nelson Motorsports had come to an agreement with Connor Hall to drive the No. 22 that he picked up in May after it parted ways with veteran Cale Gale.

Huffman helped rebuild the No. 22 team with a victory in the Old North State Nationals back in August and a runner-up in the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 at Martinsville Speedway last month. He also has six victories outside of CARS Tour this season in his No. 75 Huffman Racing entry.

Jimmy Mooring Racing will field cars, in an alliance with Huffman Racing, for both Huffman and two-time CARS Tour champion Jared Fryar. While Huffman competes for the CARS Tour championship, Fryar will race part-time along with the three-race Virginia Triple Crown.

Huffman will maintain his entry out of the Huffman Racing shop in Claremont, North Carolina with Robert Huffman serving as crew chief. The elder Huffman, Landon’s father, is a successful short track in his own right and also has five NASCAR Goody’s Dash Series championships.

The team will field R&S Race Cars in coordination with chassis builder Marcus Richmond.

“What an incredible opportunity I am walking into with Jimmy Mooring and Jimmy Mooring Racing,” Huffman said. “This partnership will allow both myself and my Huffman Racing team to be involved every weekend, and I can’t wait to put Jimmy & his partners in victory lane in 2024. While our long-term goal is the championship, our short-term goal is to show up each week as a strong contender to win. Time to go to work.”
