CARS Tour issues penalties from Hickory Throwback Race

Andrew Grady has been suspended three races for his part in a fight

Late Model Stock driver Andrew Grady has been fined $1000 and suspended for the next three CARS Tour events for engaging in a physical confrontation with series founder Jack McNelly on Saturday at Hickory Motor Speedway.

Grady was involved in an incident that saw him crash into the backstretch inside retaining wall, destroying the rear end of his new TORP chassis and then vowed to exchange words of some kind with Landon Huffman.

There was a fight around their pit areas when Grady gestured to Huffman as he drove by immediately after the race. The confrontation got physical and the Chad Bryant Racing team parked nearby were only involved in the efforts of trying to split it apart.

However, Gage Painter of CBR was issued a $500 fine for walking into another team’s pit area to instigate a physical confrontation.

Once the fighting began, McNelly was shoved to the ground by Grady, resulting in his penalties. Concurrently, Grady crew member Chris Courtney was also suspended a race and issued a $500 fine for walking into another team’s pit area to instigate a physical confrontation.

Grady will miss the races at North Wilkesboro on Saturday night, Ace Speedway on August 9 and Wake County Speedway on August 24 as a result.

Unrelated, Buddy Isles Jr. has also been fined $500 placed on probation for crossing onto the racing surface of a hot race track to instigate a confrontation.

Ryan Millington drove into the back of Connor Hall on the final corner of the final lap and had his resulting win taken away as a result. The league also placed him on probation for the remainder of the season for rough driving.

In other words, any actions that would typically result in probation would result in a suspension the next time it happens through the remainder of a season.
