Chris Denny goes 3 for Dale in Throwback 276

Christopher Denny is going back in black for the CARS Tour Throwback 276.

The Orange County Speedway regular and former champion will harken back to the first time Dale Earnhardt Sr. ran the black GM Goodwrench Service Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing. The season, the defending champion won three times and finished third in the championship standings. The livery was designed by Your Design Graphics in Roxboro, North Carolina.

Of course, he would go on to win four additional championships in that car — establishing a mystique as the Man in Black in the process.

Denny has made eight CARS Tour starts over the past three seasons, all in his family-owned No. 2, with one top-10 at Orange County back on April 21.

In addition to Hut Strickin, who will be honored by his son Taylor with a throwback scheme, Bobby Allison, Donnie Allison, Ron Hornaday Jr., Randy LaJoie and Robert Pressley will be on-hand to sign autographs and take part in a Q&A session before the race.

As is the case with all CARS Tour races, the Throwback 276 can be viewed live with a CARSTour.TV subscription package. A condensed version of the race will also air on MAVTV on September 6 at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.
