Team 3 Red EHR stays in the family; adds Alex Tagliani for ovals

The stewardship to Team 3 Red/Ed Hakonson Racing, which competes in the NASCAR Canada Series, has been transferred over to longtime racer, series champion and general manager Jason Hathaway and wife Jamie Hakonson-Hathaway.

The team was founded in 2001 to compete in the old CASCAR championship by Ed Hakonson, who died last year. Under the new ownership structure, Hathaway will own the No. 3 that he drove to a championship in 2020 with Hakonson-Hathaway owning the No. 8 entry.

It vows to operate with the same standards and goals as under ‘Fast Eddie.’

The No. 3 will be split between Connor Bell on road and street courses with Alex Tagliani taking over on ovals to complete his full schedule return when paired with road and street duties with Donald Theetge Racing.

“We’ll be able to continue to work with Connor in his development, and we can call on the tremendous experience and knowledge of Alex to help further our goals and compete for an Owners’ Championship,” Hathaway added. “We’re proud to make this announcement to encourage and promote the tremendous work that Ed began with this team.”
