Sealed Engine Alliance Leaders to restructure in 2026

The Sealed Engine Alliance Leaders Committee is restructuring for the 2026 season, and while membership is still being decided, the structure of the group was detailed within a press release issued on Monday night.

SEAL is a group of officials from various short track racing organizations that govern and standardize sealed crate engines, with an aim towards cost containment and competitive parity through the certification of engine builders, rules packages and performance testing.

As part of the new structure, ASA STARS promoter Marty Melo will serve as the non-voting chairman of the committee alongside a non-voting administrator to be decided at a later date. There will also be a non-voting technical advisory group comprised of Rick Davis, Freddie Query and a TBA.

The voting board members will be organized into two specialized groups consisting of five members, one for Super Late Model and another for Pro Late Model competition. The release detailed the process that will determine the voting membership:

“The voting board members will be selected from a diverse cross-section of racing series, tracks, and active promoters from across the country. This approach is designed to ensure broad geographic and organizational representation, strengthening the committee’s ability to make informed decisions and develop effective policies.”

The release also expressed gratitude to long-time SEAL co-chair Greg Wood ‘for his years of service and significant contributions to SEAL and motorsports during his tenure. SEAL will use this change to reshape the committee’s structure and leadership. The SEAL community extends its sincere gratitude to Greg Wood for his years of dedication and impact.’
