Hudson Bulger chasing World Crown win at home

Daniel Vining

Hudson Bulger is looking to bring home a World Crown win at his home track in Cordele.

The crown jewel event will be the longest that he raced in his career. The 17-year-old has made several starts at the track already this year, including all the Superfest races. He is excited for the weekend in the biggest race of his career.

“It’s definitely going to be the biggest race I’ve run,” Bulger said. “I haven’t had a race long enough to have any pit stops. I think the longest race I’ve run is 150 laps. For it to be here at Cordele is pretty special, being my home track. I feel like we’ll have a really good car like we always do there.”

Having so many laps at the track, Bulger is optimistic about his chances. He also knows that he has plenty of laps in the race to learn and improve.

“Hopefully we can bring a fast car right out of the gate,” Bulger said. “[We’ll] work on it and figure out our strategy for the race. I’ve got a lot of laps there. If I had to pick any track for it to be at [it] would be [Cordele].”

The weekend will also give Bulger experience ahead of the Snowball Derby.

“As of right now we’re planning on running the Derby,” Bulger said. “I’m excited to run this race so I can get a longer race behind me before we go into the Derby so I can have a little bit more experience.”

Something that Bulger is happy for, like many drivers, is the increased payout for the drivers that have raced all of the Superfest races. Bulger says the boosted purse will help him and his team out.

“I think it’s huge,” Bulger said. “We’re a smaller team. We’re not a well funded team, but we try to do as good as we can. We’ve run the other two [Superfest] races so we get a bonus for just starting the race. If we were to win, the payout would be huge.”

The World Crown 300 at Cordele Motor Speedway is on Saturday, October 25. Fans can purchase tickets or catch the action live on Racing America
