Having lost the Georgia Spring Nationals on Saturday due to rain, ASA Southern Super Series announced a new event at Southern National Motorsports Park for Thursday June 22 just two days before the scheduled event on Saturday June 24 at Carteret County Speedway.

It sets up what the series is calling the North Carolina Double with two points races in a span of three days 100 miles apart from each other.

The series has added a $5000 bonus for any driver that sweeps the two races across Southern National and Carteret County.

“We’re happy to be working so well with all the promoters. Their cooperation with each other is what short track racing needs,” said Southern Super Series director Tim Bryant. “Michael Diaz at SNMP and I have been on each other’s radar for a while, and now the time is right. I’m glad to move on with positive news and energy with the North Carolina doubleheader.

“The Southern Super Series has worked very well with the Lyle family at Cordele and we were sad to lose the Spring Nationals, but we’re looking forward to returning to Crisp Motorsports Park on August 19 for the Georgia Summer Nationals.”

A race title for the new event at Southern National and presenting partner will be announced in the coming weeks.

The next Southern Super Series event will take place on April 15 for the Rumble by The River 125.
