Justin Johnson Earns Old North State Nationals Pole

A blistering lap from Justin Johnson in qualifying earned him the pole for the Old North State Nationals at Orange County Speedway.

Veteran Justin Johnson opened the 2021 CARS Late Model Stock Car Tour season by earning his first career victory in the series at Dillon Motor Speedway.

Now he finds himself in a great position to pick up the biggest win of his career by starting on pole in the Old North State Nationals at Orange County Speedway.

Johnson considers Orange County to be one of his better tracks and believes that he can hold off the rest of the 28-car field and take home a $30,000 race-winning paycheck.

“I’ve won a ton of races here over the years,” Johnson said. “It’s been a good while [since the last win] but it’s a lot of fun to be back, to be fast and lead them to the green.”

Johnson will have 2016 CARS LMSC Tour champion Deac McCaskill lined up to his outside, while 2016 ValleyStar Credit Union 300 champion Mike Looney lines up third.

Josh Berry, who won the 2020 Old North State Nationals at Greenville-Pickens Speedway, starts in the fifth position.

Johnson will attempt to pick up his second career CARS LMSC Tour victory when the green flag flies at 3 p.m. this afternoon.
