Following the departure of chief technical inspector Ricky Brooks, New Smyrna Speedway has hired the Champion Racing Association to manage the rules and procedures for February’s World Series of Asphalt.
That means CRA chief technical inspector Eddie Chew and his staff will oversee all technical aspects of the World Series with exception of the Tour Type Modifieds.
CRA series director Glenn Luckett will serve as race director for the World Series and will work with existing New Smyrna Speedway staff to manage on-track competition during the nine nights of racing at the venerable Florida half-mile.
“We are pleased to announce we will be teaming up with CRA for the 54th Annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing,” remarked Rusty Marcus, General Manager of New Smyrna Speedway. “CRA was here in 2012 and 2013 and did a tremendous job, we are looking forward to working with them again as we look to continue to make this event one of the best in the country.”

There is also an inherent hope that CRA involvement can result in teams from the Midwest making the trip south for Speedweeks.
“We are looking forward to working with Rusty and the entire New Smyrna Speedway staff at the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing,” remarked R.J. Scott, Managing Partner with CRA. “There’s a lot of history with this great event and we want to see it continue to be some of the best on track competition in the country during Speedweeks in Florida!”
The 54th Annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing is set to begin on February 7th and will feature nine nights of racing through February 15th, featuring Super Late Models, Pro Late Models, Tour Type Modifieds, Florida Modifieds, Pro Trucks, Sportsman, Super Stocks, Mod Mini’s, Bombers and the ARCA Menards East Series on Monday, February 10th.
