CARS Tour West has announced its 2025 schedule and competition updates, including an announcement that Super Late Model and Limited Late Model divisions would be added.
Making its debut this past year, CARS Tour West broke ground with a new approach to Late Model on the ‘left coast.’
2014 NASCAR Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick, who has a strategic alliance with Tim Huddleston, has prioritized getting the region on a uniform rule book with the rest of the country. CARS Tour West is a licensing agreement for the east coast series of the same name owned by Harvick, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Burton and Justin Marks.
They will continue to operate the 602 Pro Late Model division, however it will be rebranded as the Limited Pro Late Model (LPL) division. They will also change from running the Hoosier 970 treaded racing tire to the Hoosier 980 slick. They will race 11 times next year, with the 10 best races counting towards the championship.
“The 602 division is very important to West Coast racing,” said Tim Huddleston. “It is the staple division for many local tracks, and adding the slick tire provides a great stepping stone for our competitors who look to move up the ranks in the ladder system we are building.
The Pro Late Models will also compete in 11 races with the 10 best counting towards the championship. Super Late Models will have five races and the Legend Cars will compete in conjunction with all dates for the tour.
The Pro Late Models and Super Late Models will use the Hoosier ST1, ST2 and ST3 tires, and follow the 2025 United Late Model Rules Alliance (ULRA) Pro Late Model rule book.
“The realignment of the West Coast divisions and rules is intended to create a clear ladder system from Legend cars to Super Late Models for the competitors under one series umbrella,” said Harvick in a release. “With the collaboration from the competitors and local tracks, we feel like we have put West Coast racing in the most structured position for our competitors to succeed.”
For the Legend cars, 15 of the 16 races will make up the CARS Tour West Legend Car championship, and will use the 12 best finishes towards the championship. Not included will be The INEX Summer Nationals multi-day event at Colorado National Speedway, as this will not count to points for the championship.
Will Kozak will become the Series Director. Kozak most recently oversaw Irwindale Speedway and Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway. Joey Mancari will continue as the race director. Mancari has worked with NASCAR, Red Bull Global RallyCross and AMA Pro Racing American Flat Track. NASCAR veteran Cal Northrop as the Super Late Models tech director, and Bill Sedgwick will continue as the tech director for the Pro and Limited Pro Late Models.
