Bubba Pollard set fast time for the Southern Super Series event on Friday night at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida.
The 2015 SSS champion did so with a fast time of 16.543 seconds around the famous Gulf Coast half-mile which is most popularized as the home of the Snowball Derby. As such, the summer SSS races always draw a strong field of cars.
A total of 25 Super Late Models took laps in qualifying but an invert will give Cole Williams the pole for the start of the 100 lap event. As such, Williams and defending tour champion Donnie Wilson will lead the field to green over Pollard and Casey Roderick.
This race also features a fantastic championship battle.
Chandler Smith and Stephen Nasse are tied with 330 points but Garrett Jones and Kyle Plott are 19 and 18 points back respectively. That’s a legitimate wide-open four-driver battle for the fourth Southern Super Series championship. There’s also a live pay-per-view broadcast stream provided by 51 TV.
