Chase Elliott and the Platinum full-timers headline ASA STARS Hickory

Round 3 for the ASA STARS National Super Late Model Tour will take place on Thursday, May 21 at Hickory Motor Speedway with a 27-car field comprised of a NASCAR Cup Series champion and Platinum Agreement championship teams.

The Cup Series driver is Chase Elliott, who tends to make this track and date one of his handful of races a year, paired as always with his childhood crew chief Ricky Turner in a No. 9 FR8 Racing Chevrolet.

Carson Brown has won the first two races, at New Smyrna and Pensacola, and will drive his No. 81 alongside returning defending winner Colby Howard in Anthony Campi Racing Chevrolets. Other early championship contenders include Kyle Steckly and Jade Avedisian of Wilson Motorsports and Tristan McKee of Richie Wauters Motorsports.

Other Platinum Agreement full-timers include Derek Kraus, in his family owned VanDoorn Racing chassis, Casey Roderick of Rette Jones Racing and JCR3 Racing’s Matt Craig, a former winner at Hickory in CARS Tour and PASS South competition.

Reigning Snowball Derby winner Stephen Nasse will be in attendance to chase the Tar Heel 250 trophy as well.

Thursday’s event schedule will feature support division racing beginning at 5:00 PM with Legend Cars and Bandoleros also competing during the evening. Kyle and Brexton Busch will be competing with the strong field of Legends.

The Tar Heel 250 Presented by Appalachian Sucker Punch will take the green flag at 7:35 PM. The racing airs on TrackTV.
