ASA STARS Round 3 set for Dominion Raceway

The third round of the ASA STARS National Super Late Model Tour is a new event and an unusual location for a marquee Super Late Model race in the form of Dominion Raceway in Spotsylvania, Virginia.

This has been a mainstay for CARS Tour stops over the past decades, and up until this year, was a Late Model Stock hotbed as the track transitioned its Virginia Racer class as its new Division 1 NASCAR class. Instead, it made a handful of Late Model Stock races marquee events and purchased touring events like CARS Tour and ASA to fill out the schedule.

There are 22 drivers on the Appaclachian Sucker Punch 250 presented by Jones Utilities entry list, including all the returning Platinum Agreement drivers, and currently championship favorites. The event will air live on TrackTV.com.

Story So Far

Gavan Boschele of Donnie Wilson Motorsports won the STARS season opener at New Smyrna in February. This race arguably cost the series Ty Majeski from signing a Platinum Agreement as his crash with Colby Howard racing for the win deterred him from going to Pensacola. Boschele also finished sixth at Pensacola to maintain the championship lead that race established.

Cole Butcher won Round 2 at Five Flags Speedway on March 23. Bubba Pollard recovered from an electrical issue on Lap 15 to a top-10 and has managed two hard fought top-10s to stay in championship contention in some capacity so far.

Despite being fourth in the standings, Colby Howard is not racing at Dominion because is only contracted to run the Southern Super Series race with Anthony Campi Racing. The first two rounds were SSS-ASA combined points and this weekend is a Champion Racing Association combined points race with ASA STARS.
