Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway May 16 opener postponed

The season opener for the new look Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway has once again been delayed by the continuing coronavirus shutdown.

The race scheduled for May 16 has been postponed with a make-up date yet to be determined. The event was to feature Pro Late Models, Super Trucks, Limited Late Models, Street Stocks, Pure Stocks, Front Runners, Legends, Bandoleros and the Baby Grand Racing Series.

Open Practice scheduled for Saturday, May 9 and Friday, May 15 has also been cancelled. Private testing, under strict social distancing guidelines, is still scheduled to begin later in the month.

Despite the second postponement, the Track Enterprises promotional group still intends to race all nine scheduled events in 2020. The new season opener is scheduled to be rescheduled North-South Super Late Model Challenge 100 on Saturday, May 30. That race is tri-sanctioned by the Southern Super Series, Champion Racing Association and CARS Tour.

The event also hosts the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Pro Late Model Tour, CRA Street Stock Series, CRA Junior Late Model Series and Vores Compact Touring Series.

Speedway officials are in communication with The Fairgrounds Nashville directors, health and city officials as Nashville prepares to reopen for business.
