A high-profile family showdown and a hungry field of regional short-track stars highlight the entry list for Wednesday’s 14th Annual Masters of the Pros 200 at Owosso Speedway.
The premier mid-summer event for the Turn One CRA Pro Series is drawing national attention to the high-speed oval in Ovid, Michigan which plays host to this 200 lap pro late model event for the fourth consecutive year. While the race has historic roots traveling to different legendary short tracks over the years—including Lebanon I-44 Speedway, Birch Run Raceway, and the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway—it found its current home at Owosso Speedway in 2023.
Taking inspiration from golf’s Masters Tournament, the signature prize of this event is a highly coveted Green Jacket awarded to the race winner, alongside a sizable cash payout of $20,000. Within the landscape of pro late model racing, this event is one of its Crown Jewels and winning this race is considered by many as a career-defining achievement.
Past winners include big names like NASCAR Cup Series Champion Chase Elliott, John Hunter Nemechek, and short-track legend Bubba Pollard. Kyle Crump won last year’s edition after overcoming an engine change and starting next to last in the field.
Headlining the roster this year is the highly anticipated return of the father-son duo, Kevin and Keelan Harvick. The elder Harvick is stepping back behind the wheel to once again go door-to-door agaisnt son, Keelan. The pair will be looking to settle unfinished business from last year’s event, where Keelan contended for the victory late in the race but Kevin’s night ended early following a late-lap collision with two-time tour champion Dan Leeck.
Leek is once again on this year’s entry list, joining a group that includes points leader Chase Pinsonneault, who is having a standout start to the season with three top-five finishes, including a win at Flat Rock Speedway in June. The 2023 Masters winner Chase Burda returns, and is joined by 2025 tour champion Billy VanMeter. ASA STARS Tour regular Kyle Steckly is entered along with a bevy of talented veterans including Albert Francis, Michael Simko, Blake Rowe, Evan Shotko, and Steve Dorer.
Green flag action for the Masters of the Pros 200 is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. ET on Wednesday, July 22 and will be broadcast on Track TV.
