MA Camirand, Robin McCluskey Penalized after Pintys Series Win

This is the second year in a row the team has been penalized

Defending NASCAR Pinty’s Series champions Marc-Antoine Camirand and crew chief Robin McCluskey were hit with a significant penalty following the post-race technical inspection process on Saturday at Autodrome Chaudière.

The No. 96 team were victorious in a late restart over Treyten Lapcevich and the 22 Racing No. 20 team but were hit with a P4 level infraction discovered following the race. Specifically, the violation concerns 20.E.12.2 of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series rule book. The exact infraction is as follows:

The front trailing arm mounts must be an equal distance when measured from the inside edge of the main frame rails to the centerline of the mounts on both the left side and the right side

As a result of the penalty, NASCAR has deducted Camirand 18 driver points and the Paillé Course//Racing No. 96 team has been deducted the same number of owner points. McCluskey will not be permitted to attend the next race at Eastbound International Speedway in Newfoundland and will be suspended after that until he pays a $2500 fine.

The penalty drops Camirand from second in the standings and nine points behind to Lapcevich to a fifth-place tie and 27 points out of the lead.

  1. Treyten Lapcevich 139
  2. Kevin Lacroix 122
  3. L.P. Dumoulin 116
  4. Alex Guenette 114
  5. Marc-Antoine Camirand 112
  6. D.J. Kennington 112
  7. Dexter Stacey 108
  8. J.P. Bergeron 101
  9. Larry Jackson 101
  10. Alex Tagliani 100

Of note, Camirand was given a 12-point penalty last season for an unapproved muffler violation but overturned it on appeal on the way to his first series championship. McCluskey has won three Pinty’s Series championships as a crew chief between Camirand and LP Dumoulin.
