Kevin Lacroix scroes pole for the Pinty’s Series at New Hampshire

The championship leader will have every opportunity to extend over Andrew Ranger …

Kevin Lacroix put on a show for fans at New Hampshire one year ago, leading 90 laps en route to winning the inaugural race. This year, Lacroix’s dominance picked up right where it left off, vaporizing the track record on the way to a vitally important pole.

After topping the charts in Friday’s practice, the 30-year-old from Saint Eustache, Quebec set a blistering lap time of 31.040 seconds (122.706mph) to claim his 11th career pole and his second of the season. Lacroix’s No.74 Bumper to Bumper Dodge’s time was good enough to shatter Cole Powell’s track record from last year by nearly eight tenths of a second.

Powell’s original track record of 31.860, was beaten by the top 15 drivers.

“It feels really good,” Lacroix said. “We came here last with a winning mindset and won the first race and now we’re back on the pole. We just keep progressing our car in practice. It feels really good, especially on long runs, and I’m really confident for the race.”

D.J. Kennington will line up second. The St. Thomas, Ontario native set a time of 31.061 (122.623), good enough for Kennington’s third front row start of 2019. Kennington’s time was .021 seconds off of Lacroix’s pole lap.

The pole was important because Lacroix holds a two point lead over Andrew Ranger. He set a time of 31.136 (122.328) and will lineup directly behind Lacroix in third.

Donald Theetge and Alex Labbe will complete the top five.

The green flag for the Visit New Hampshire 100 will drop at 12:05 P.M. The race will be available for streaming on TSN.ca in Canada and on FansChoice in the United States.
