NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race at North Wilkesboro moved to October 20

Date change sets up a potential blockbuster tripleheader weekend

Eakin Howard | NASCAR

The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race at North Wilkesboro Speedway will now be a part of a tripleheader weekend at the historic venue along with the zMAX CARS Tour and SMART Modified Tour.

Originally scheduled for October 5, NASCAR announced the postponement of the Brushy Mountain Powersports 150 earlier this week as Western North Carolina continues relief and recovery efforts in the wake of Hurricane Helene.  On Thursday, NASCAR announced the race would be held on Sunday, November 20.

North Wilkesboro Speedway is being used as a collection site for donations.

The Brushy Mountain Powersports 150 will serve as the penultimate race on the 2024 calendar for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season, with the finale set for Saturday, October 26 at Martinsville Speedway.

North Wilkesboro Speedway was already set to host championship races in the SMART Modified Tour and in both divisions of the zMAX CARS Tour on Saturday, October 19, 2024.  As of now, both the CARS Tour and SMART Modified Tour dates remain on the schedule, which will make for a blockbuster weekend for short track racing at one of the sport’s most legendary venues.
