Myatt Snider tackles CARS Tour debut with new sponsor TaxSlayer

It wasn’t the worst-case scenario for Myatt Snider when the reigning NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series rookie of the year revealed in February that he was only able to piece together a part-time deal to remain in the division for the 2019 season.

That’s because the 24-year-old will actually get to race more this year, racing in some of the most prestigious events on the Truck Series schedule in addition to a soon-to-be revealed part-time deal in sports car racing — a discipline he calls his first love.

Also, a reduced NASCAR schedule for the time being also means a limited return to Late Model Stock racing.

Snider will make his first short track start of the season on Saturday night in the Solid Rock Carriers 300 at Southern National Motorsports Park, the CARS Tour season-opening event. And he will do so with support from TaxSlayer, a sponsor that will support him across various disciplines this season.

Snider hopes to complicate his 2020 tax filing on Saturday night by taking the winner’s share of the purse at Southern National.

The TaxSlayer logo will also adorn Snider’s ThorSport Ford F-150 in the Truck Series on Speedway Saturday, March 23. He will once again run the TaxSlayer colors during the CARS Tour Old North State Nationals at Orange County Speedway on April 6-7 — a $39,000-to-win race and the richest in Late Model Stock competition.

“I’m really looking forward to getting to race my Late Model more,” Snider said. “I’m in a really good position this year in that we have everything we need to win. That’s true for both my NASCAR schedule and my Late Model schedule.

“I miss running with those guys and Jeff Caudill has been really good to me over the years. I expect to be chasing wins all year.”

Snider has one win in 21 CARS Tour starts and his consistency earned him a third-place championship result in 2015. He also won the prestigious Myrtle Beach 400 in 2015.
