Kyle Busch has already tackled Thunder Valley in NASCAR and now he’s set to take on Thunder Road.

The 2015 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion has entered the Vermont Governor’s Cup 150 on Thursday, July 13 at the Thunder Road Speedbowl in Barre, VT. It’s the first time the 32-year-old has competed at the famous high-banked quarter-mile.

This will also be his first time running an American-Canadian Tour Late Model since winning the Oxford 250 back in 2011, when it was contested under ACT rules. For the Gov Cup, Busch will drive a machine prepped by Eric Chase, Nick Sweet and the Mad Dog Motorsports team.

Sweet is a four-time Governor’s Cup champion.

“We’re very excited that Kyle Busch will be coming to race at Thunder Road,” Thunder Road co-owner Cris Michaud said. “He’s one of the most accomplished NASCAR drivers of this generation, and we’re looking forward to seeing what he can do. We know he’ll be coming to win.”

Busch will join the likes of Tony Stewart, Clint Bowyer and Ken Schrader to have attempted the Vermont Governor’s Cup while still active in the highest levels of NASCAR.

The race is set to begin at 6:30 p.m and general admission tickets cost $20 but free for children 12 and under.

ACT style cars trace its roots to the NASCAR North Late Model Tour formed by journalist Ken Squier and business partner Tom Curley. The latter formed the ACT in 1986 and used both Super Late Models and Pro Stocks.

As part of a cost-cutting procedure, the current ACT car features Late Model Stock style perimeter chassis, ABC bodies and a sealed crate engine. Curley passed away on May 5 from complications related to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
