Kade Brown Ready to Defend South Carolina 400 Win with New Team

Kade Brown is looking to win back to back South Carolina 400s, however this time he is with a new team.

After winning the track championship at both Hickory Motor Speedway and Florence Motor Speedway in 2023, as well as the South Carolina 400 with Matt Piercy Racing, Brown made the move to R&S Race Cars, starting last month at Orange Bowl Speedway in the Orange Blossom Shootout.

Brown would win the pole and finish sixth in his debut with his new team. Then he would have his swansong race with Matt Piercy Racing at Hickory in the Fall Brawl. He would start and finish in seventh in the race. Now, his focus is all on R&S as he gets ready for the South Carolina 400.

“I look forward to starting a new chapter with these guys,” said the driver of the No. 4. “It’s been a little different, I’ve had a lot to learn, but I’m really excited going into this weekend. I feel like we have a really really good car. We’re learning every time we’re out there. Just keep making good changes and we’ll be really good for tomorrow.”

Even with the change in teams, Brown is very confident in being able to defend his South Carolina 400 win.

“I wouldn’t say there has been any struggles [switching teams]. Just different driving race cars so I’ve had a few things I need to do differently as a driver. I am very very confident in our race car and the whole team. I think we have a very good shot at planting a palm tree.”

On track action begins with two practice sessions, starting at 11:45 a.m., with qualifying at 4:15 p.m. Racing action starts at 6:00 p.m. with two late model heat races, with the top six locking into the main race. After those are a pair of 50 lap features for the Street Stocks and Mini Stocks. Then it is the 250 lap South Carolina 400. Those unable to come to the track will be able to watch live on FloRacing.
