The World Series at New Smyrna will have a new twist in 2027 for the Tour Type Modifieds.

Announced Thursday morning, the SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic and the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series will kick-off their season during the World Series at New Smyrna Speedway on Saturday, February 13th, 2027.

This announcement brings together two of the most popular tour-type modified racing series as part of the start of the 61st World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna.

It will be a non-points event for the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series.

“Modifieds are made for New Smyrna Speedway, and the SMART Modified Tour powered by Pace-O-Matic is extremely excited to start its season with the World Series,” said Chris Williams, Series Director for SMART.

Renee Dupuis, the Director of the Monaco Modified Series Development is just as excited to kick the season off at the legendary racing facility in Florida.

“Speedweek at New Smyrna is a rite of passage for anyone in the modified world,” explained Renee Dupuis. “As a group, the Monaco Modified Series is thrilled to venture outside New England and kick off an iconic week at a legendary facility.”

The tour-type modifieds have become an annual staple as part of the World Series at New Smyrna Speedway, with Maynard Troyer winning the first tour-type modified race back in 1976. The week has become home to popular tour-type modified events, including the Richie Evans Memorial 100, started in 1986. Then the John Blewett III Memorial 76, started in 2008, where John Blewett III brother, Jimmy Blewett won the inaugral race.

An $85,000-plus purse will accommodate race teams from the Northeast and Southeast in what will be a historic one-day show.

Chris Williams is honored to have the SMART Tour be apart of the Speedweek at New Smyrna Speedway.

“New Smyrna Speedway is a great facility,” Williams said. “It’s an honor to be a part of their Speedweek. I’ve been going to these events for 40-plus years, and to showcase our series there is a historic moment. It’s been a pleasure to put this event together with Jane Hart (track co-owner) and Holli Hanna (Operations Manager). It’s also been fun to work with Monaco Modifieds to set up this race that will give the fans a lot of excitement.”

Renee Dupuis and the management of the Monaco Modified have been looking to get involved with the SMART Tour modifieds.

“It’s no secret we’ve been exploring ways to work together with Chris Williams and the SMART Tour, but neither of us could have envisioned an opportunity like this one,” said Dupuis. “None of this happens without Jane, Holli, and their team at New Smyrna Speedway. We’re honored they trust us to be part of it. We know how much the World Series means to modified fans, and we intend to put on a show worthy of it.”

More details regarding this monumental event will be released in the coming weeks. Both the SMART Modified Tour and the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series will also announce their respective schedule for the 2027 season in the coming days.

The 2027 season for both series goes green on Saturday, February 13, 2027, in the shadows of Daytona, at New Smyrna Speedway.

Stephen Durham joined the STS team in the summer of 2026. A New York native, Durham embraced the dirt big block modified world close to home, eventually working for Lebanon Valley Speedway hall-of-famer Eddie Marshall. Durham's first opportunities as a journalist and photographer came for Race Pro Weekly after meeting founder Bobby Chalmers. A meteorologist by trade and now living in Massachusetts, Durham covers regional racing across the Northeast.
