NASCAR announced the Modified Tour 15-race schedule for 2027, highlighted by their first ever visit to the historic Thunder Road International Speedbowl, the return to the “Greatest Race in the History of Spring”, with the Spring Sizzler at Stafford Speedway, kicking off the season at Thompson Speedway with the Icebreaker, and crowning the 2027 champion at Thompson.
For Series Director Gary Putnam, he is pleased with the overall 2027 schedule and the flexibility it brings, especially if weather becomes an issue on raceday, but also provides breaks in between races.
“I’m really happy with the way it laid out,” Putnam said to Short Track Scene. “Kind of a break in between races. It gives everybody a chance to work on their stuff in between races. It also gives us an opportunity in case we do encounter weather that we’ve got alternate rain dates available. So that’s all good. Then just going to Stafford twice now and going back to “The Greatest Race in the History of Spring”, the Spring Sizzler is awesome and Thunder Road is going to be a neat event and going back to Lancaster has always put on a great race for sure there.”
The season gets underway at Thompson Speedway as part of Icebreaker Weekend, Sunday April 4th, 2027, with a total of three visits scheduled at Thompson in 2027. They return back to ‘Big T’ Wednesday, August 4th, and then will wrap the season up as part of the 65th World Series Weekend on Sunday, October 10th.
Drivers will be back after a grandfather clock at Martinsville for the second race of the season. The Modified Tour will join the NASCAR Cup Series weekend, kicking off the weekend Friday, April 16th.
Stephen Kopcik picked up his first-career Modified Tour earlier in 2026 at Martinsville, getting his first grandfather clock.

The Modified Tour then returns back to the Spring Sizzler, Sunday, April 25th. It is the first time the Modified Tour returns to the “Greatest Race in the History of Spring” since April of 2021, where 2026 Modified Tour champion, Patrick Emerling grabbed the win. It’ll be the first of two visits to Stafford in 2027.
The Modified Tour then heads to Seekonk Speedway in Seekonk, Massachusetts on Saturday, May 15th, for their first of two visits. The Modified Tour comes back to Seekonk later in the summer before the Fourth of July, racing mid-week on Wednesday, June 30th.
The Modified Tour then heads out on Long Island for their first of two visits in 2027 on Saturday, June 5th at Riverhead Raceway. The Modified Tour then returns later in the year on Saturday, September 11th race at the bullring.
The Modified Tour and Thunder Road Speedbowl are two of the most historic pieces of New England motorsports history. Saturday, June 12th, Thunder Road Speedbowl comes to life with the asphalt ground pounders.
It’s a race that Series Director and New England native, Gary Putnam is already looking forward to.
“I’m really excited about that race,” an ecstatic Putnam said. “I watch it on FloRacing every Thursday night and it’s just a unique racetrack and just a beautiful backdrop. Just super excited to work with Cris Michaud, and he does a fabulous job there, and all of his racetracks, and Tom Mayberry. It’s going to be a special event for sure. I believe that’s the first time a NASCAR division has been there and probably since I was a kid, for sure in at least 40 years.”
Then the Modified Tour heads to the Granite State of New Hampshire on Friday, June 18th at Claremont Motorsports Park. 2026 champion, Patrick Emerling started his 2026 dominance and started a streak of three consecutive wins with the Modified Tour.
In mid-July, after a visit to Seekonk in late June, the Modified Tour heads back to southwest New Hampshire at the “Mad Dog”, Monadnock Speedway on Saturday, July 17th.
The Modified Tour then heads west out of New England and back to Pennsylvania, to a place that has been dominated in recent history by 2025 Modified Tour champion, Austin Beers.
Lancaster Motorplex on Saturday, July 24th, Austin Beers will look to make it a four-peat, winning the last three consecutive races, from 2023 through 2025.
Beers is already looking forward to this addition on the schedule.
“It’s great to be going back to Lancaster, it’s a great facility and they always put on a fantastic show with a packed house,” Beers said. “Obviously we’ve had a ton of success there so hopefully we can do the four-peat when we go back.”

Then, the Modified Tour returns back to Connecticut, racing at Thompson with the mid-week race on Wednesday, August 4th.
The Modified Tour stays in Connecticut for a late August visit back to Stafford Speedway on Friday, August 27th. It was a hometrack advantage in August of 2026 for the rookie, Teddy Hodgdon. Hodgdon will look to defend the place where he grabbed his first career win in 2026.
The championship battle will then heat up and head to the ‘Magic Mile’, at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, being the second to last race of the season for the Modified Tour. After 16 previous starts at New Hampshire, it was Jonathan McKennedy picking up his first modified tour win at Loudon.
The season then wraps up with Thompson Speedway, where the 2027 Modified Tour champion will be crowned once more on Sunday, October 10th.
