Monahan wins PLM Tri-County, Jones and DeCaire get heated

Well, it was a fun watch for the people in the stands, maybe not for the competitors.

Brody Monahan gets a two for one special, passing Conner Jones and T.J. DeCaire in the closing laps to win the CARS Tour Pro Late Model race at Tri-County Speedway, his second win in the last three races.

Conner Jones and T.J. DeCaire had a spirited battle for the win in the second half of the race and as the laps clicked off the physicality of the battle increased. It seemed to be every lap that the two were nudging and using each other up until finally Jones had enough. He pulled a Bump ‘N Run on DeCaire in Turn 3 with 20 laps to go and Monahan was there to pounce. Monahan dove under Jones and worked him over for the next few laps until he got clear and led the remainder of the race to score the win.

“I was watching them racing in front of me,” Monahan said “We were really lacking some drive. Them working on each other the whole race really helped us out. At the end of the day I found a groove in the track where the car was really happy and we were able to make our way to the front.”

When the race was over, some of DeCaire’s crew entered Jones’ pit and a scuffle broke out. One of the Low Country Racing members was tackled to the ground and Landon Huffman escorted John Carroll away, attempting to help calm the situation.

Jones and DeCaire also exchanged words on the frontstretch after the race. DeCaire approached Jones and said “How am I supposed to race with you.” Jones replied with “Motherfucker you drove through me four times down there. Every time you got my inside you drive into the marbles.” The two then were separated.

“I passed him clean on the top,” Jones said “He just kept driving into  my door and I’m just tired of that car in general running me like crap all year. To pass me at Florence they had to jacked me up on entry all the way down the backstretch and that was for like fifth so i don’t understand that. But yeah they were pretty mad which i don’t understand because they started the whole thing by running me up in the marbles when I passed him clean.”

We attempted to speak with DeCaire. He started off with “It was just a racing deal.” and then he was called into the CARS Tour trailer with Jones for a chat.
