When Dylan Fetcho rolled into Montgomery Motor Speedway this weekend, he did so with zero wins at the historic Alabama venue. By the close of the night, the driver from Lebanon, Tennessee had two wins and the trophies to prove it. Behind him, Show Me the Money Series points leader Jake Finch scored a pair of runner up finishes with Garrett Gum and Augie Grill taking third place results respectively in the dual 73-lap features.
“We’re definitely happy,” said Fetcho at the end of the night. “We’ve kinda a rough few months with our team and the races we’ve ran but we definitely hit on something and figured it out here and now we’ve won both of them.”
Fetcho Motorsports scored a win in Montgomery in August of 2025 with development driver Aidan Potter. Potter had an up and down year, either running really well and showing a lot of speed, or crashing out and not finishes races. Still, overall, the speed and ability of the Fetcho Motorsports team was evident and that speed showed on this Saturday night.
“It is really special,” Fetcho continued. “We work hard. We really do. We came on Thursday and tested… did all we can to win, and we did. I’m just thankful and glad it worked out.”
For Jake Finch, a pair of runner up finishes left him wanting more as he continues to dominate the points standings and more importantly for him, look ahead to races later in the season.
“Yeah, obviously you want to win,” said Finch. “Losing that way sucks, especially when I thought we could have been a little bit better. I had a different car this week than what we’ve ran here in the past. A different car and different motor. I think probably the other one would have been a little bit better but we just wanted to see what we could learn from it. I think we got a little bit better for the end of the year.”
”Nonetheless it’s always good to come run with Ronnie Sanders and this No. 18 car. I had fun… for the amount of fun you can have for finishing second,” he added with a smile.
Garret Gum finished third in the first 73-lap feature, overcoming a poor invert draw that had him starting eighth. Gum used momentum from the night’s only caution to gain spots from the outside lane.
”We started eighth and we kinda rolled that outside for a little bit,” he said. “We had Augie [Grill] and another guy [Chad Chaffin] pull off the track so we restart in fourth and we rolled that top [lane] all the way to second. I kind of burned my stuff up on the right rear but other than that it was good run.”
However, his march towards the front came at the expense of his tires.
”It’s pretty hard,” he said. “Especially with how fast these guys are. You want to get track position so bad. I burned my stuff bad and lost second place spot but we were good enough to keep third.”
For Augie Grill, he was returning to a familar seat. Driving the South family owned No. 43 for the first time in nearly a year, Grill was able to challenge for the top spot in the middle portion of the second 73-lap feature, before fading late as Finch passed, relegating him to third.
“Started the second race better than the first one but still went too free about ten laps too soon,” Grill said after the race. “He [Fetcho] was able to a little straighter through the corner than I was and I just kind of struggled there the last it few laps.”
”I think Jake [Finch] sat back there and tried to save a little bit,” Grill added. “Honestly I knew he was getting closer and closer. I knew my only chance was to move to the outside and try to keep the momentum. I did that, but I just screwed up on the last corner of the last lap and cost myself a position.”
