NORTH WILKESBORO, NC – CARS Tour points leader Carson Kvapil will lead a field of 30 Late Model Stock Cars to the green flag in Wednesday night’s Window World 125 at North Wilkesboro Speedway after setting a blistering pace in qualifying.

Kvapil’s 19.485 second lap around the .625-mile oval in the Brushy Mountains was fast enough to beat out Corey Heim, Kaden Honeycutt, Carter Langley and Brenden Queen for the top spot.  Now, the 19-year-old from Mooresville is hoping to finish there as he prepares to race against the series regulars as well as teammate Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

“It’s pretty cool,” Kvapil told Short Track SCENE.  “I mean, I honestly wasn’t really expecting it.  I thought we were pretty good and were going to be fifth or 10th or somewhere in there.  I guess we just knocked one off and hit it right.  Pretty happy with it, excited what we can do in the race.”

So far, Kvapil has enjoyed the experience of competing at North Wilkesboro Speedway, a track with a lot of history which has sat dormant for the better part of the century until being revived by Speedway Motorsports and XR Events.

“It’s been awesome,” Kvapil explained.  “It feels like you stepped back 20 years.  Last few upgrades they’ve done to the track.  This is probably one of the biggest races that we’re going to do this year just because it’s bringing back North Wilkesboro.  It’s pretty awesome what Dale and RaceXR and everybody has done to bring this place back and I can’t thank them enough for giving all of us this opportunity.”

An ideal outcome for Wednesday night’s race for JR Motorsports would be a battle between teammates Carson Kvapil and Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

“That’d be awesome,” Kvapil stated.  “I think that would be one of the most fun things me and him could do.  Hopefully I’m the one chasing him down, he’s not the one chasing me down.”

Kvapil has been the dominant driver in the series with two wins and nine top-five finishes in 10 races thus far this season.  He holds a 37 point advantage over his main championship rival Connor Hall with another point back to Kaden Honeycutt.

“I think me and Connor, we’ve been head of the field I’d say,” Kvapil remarked.  “We seem to be the two best cars consistently.  I think we only had one issue throughout the year, only one finish outside the top-five because of a flat tire.  We’ve had a lot of second place finishes, two wins so far, and hopefully we can make it a third tonight.”
