The Nashville Fair Board of Commissioners voted unanimously on Tuesday afternoon to retain Track Enterprises as track promoter of Fairgrounds Speedway.
The board also debated continued noise mitigation or monitoring strategies and public comment requests to improve the bathroom facilities and public address capabilities in advance of the All American 400 weekend in less than a month.
Commissioner Todd Hartley motioned to approve the contract for 2024 ‘as it is written as long as we investigate sound mitigation services at the control of the Fairgrounds but is not making approval contingent on anything related to the sound mitigation services.’
That was seconded by Diego Eguiarte.

Track Enterprises founder and president Bob Sergent was in attendance on Tuesday and answered the noise mitigation questions and said they have made progress and that he wants to personally show the new board members some of the things he had worked on with previous member Sheri Weiner, a licensed audiologist.
“We have been persistent on this issue and I’ll be more than glad to show people what we’ve done …,” Sargent said. “When Sheri was here she was in the sound business and went down there with us and showed her how it would work. I’m open from the promoter. It’s better that we have quiet cars. We feel our customers have a better experience. With that being said, I’m more than on your side.
“At the same time, from a practical standpoint, it has been difficult to get the noise in the right levels and areas and things like that and we can enter those particulars and I can show you what I worked on with Sheri and Laura (Womack) for years now and other tracks we’ve worked at.”
Sergent said he penalized three or four cars last weekend for non-compliant mufflers but that was out of over 100 entries across every level.
“I personally spent the day looking at cars and mufflers and some cars have two mufflers so my point is that we have come a long way…,” Sargent said. “We have penalized three or four cars out of over a hundred so we’re really proud of our guys that have done a good job when we’re the only track that makes them do that. We’ll probably lose some cars on November 5 but again, we’re abiding by it and we’re all for it.
“I appreciate the confidence.”
