Super Late Models

Speedfest boats 54 Late Modes over both divisions this weekend

There are 30 Super Late Models on the entry list for Speedfest at Watermelon Capital Speedway, the most since 2018.

For the first time in event history, the race is now a points paying race for the Southern Super Series, and actually the season opener but remains a non-points exhibition for the Champion Racing Association, the original promoters of the event.

The entry list features the usual cast of national Super Late Model stars in Bubba Pollard, Stephen Nasse, Gio Ruggiero, Cole Butcher and Conner Jones. It also features the return of Casey Roderick in a Platinum Motorsports entry.

From the NASCAR ranks, Josh Berry, Brandon Jones and Jake Garcia make their returns to the event after previous starts over the years. Ross Chastain is entered in the Pro Late Model

There are also 24 Pro Late Models on the entry list for the other major race on Saturday afternoon. That makes a combined 54 Late Models across two races.

Race weekend begins on Friday with practice and qualifying with the pit area opening at 9 a.m. and rotating practice starting at Noon. Qualifying is set to begin at 4:45 p.m.

Sunday race day will see the grandstands open at 10 a.m. with an autograph session scheduled for 11:30 and racing set to begin at 1 p.m.

The event airs live across Racing America, MidwestTour.TV and TrackTV.com subscription services.
