The CRA champion’s defense unofficially begins on Saturday night in Georgia …

The champ is here.

That has a nice ring to it for Josh Brock, who succeeded in capturing the CRA Super Series championship one year after coming up just short. Winning Speedfest at Watermelon Capital Speedway has an equally sweet sound.

Brock made his debut at the Georgia bullring in 2017 and had good speed, but was caught up in an early incident.
He believes that speed should carry over to this weekend.

“We are extremely excited to get back to SpeedFest,” Brock said a press release. “We had a good run last year and got in an accident early in the race. I’ve had a whole year of getting better and learning new stuff and I feel like we can be the team to beat this year.”

Brock and his team have spent a considerable amount of time in the off-season to get even better in these signature events. His 2019 plans include a championship defense in the CRA and chasing some of the bigger races across the country.

His family-owned car has a technical alliance with Wimmer Motorsports and crew chief Chris Wimmer.

“We have been working during the off season to get everything tuned in and rebuilt,” said Brock. “Everything is refreshed and ready to go for the 2019 season. With great cars and Wimmer Motorsports, I think we will have one badass hot rod.”

Speedfest is merely an exhibition race on the CRA Super Series schedule, but it’s still one that he is representing as champion after winning the crown during October’s Winchester 400 in Indiana.

“With the caliber of team I have and the quality of the cars, we need to go down there and run top-five to represent being the 2018 CRA Champion,” said Brock. “The biggest thing I learned last year in my first time there was the groove. This year I won’t be wasting any time getting up to speed.”
