For two drivers in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series garage, the race weekend within the state of Michigan will not end with the FireKeepers Casino 400 at the Michigan International Speedway.

Instead, Kyle Busch and Erik Jones will try their hands in the $20,000-to-win Money in the Bank 150 at Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan. The star-studded one-day Super Late Model showcase was strategically placed upon the Monday night after the NASCAR weekend to draw a few national stars with Busch and Jones consenting.

The race has a total purse of $100,000 and has been praised for its one day, six-tire format.

For Jones, the Battle at Berlin counts as a homecoming as the Michigan native has won twice in the Battle at Berlin 251, defeating the likes of Chase Elliott and Bubba Pollard to do so. He’s cited it as one of his favorite tracks due to its unique layout and proximity to his childhood home in Byron, Michigan.

Busch has no direct ties to Michigan but tries to take his Super Late Model out for several races per season when his busy schedule allows. The Battle at Berlin was originally called the Rowdy Race 150 due to his involvement and he’s won several times there as well.

Even though the NASCAR drivers will carry the name recognition, the favorites may come from a list of Super Late Model mainstays that include the likes of Bubba Pollard, Harrison Burton, Brian Campbell, Steven Nasse and Chad Finley.

The Money in the Bank will be 150 laps and caution laps will only count up to Lap 100. To offset lengthy green flag runs, a competition caution will be thrown after 50 consecutive green flag laps.

The race will be contested under the CRA Super Series technical specifications even though it is not a tour race. It is a six-tire event with drivers racing on their qualifying set with two more tires available to be taken during the race itself.
