Shawn Solomito and Anderson Motorsports have parted ways.
The driver announced on Friday that he would no longer be racing the No. 48 on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour for the 1994 series champion. The Islip, New York native will also no longer drive the team’s No. 15 weekly modified at Riverhead Raceway.
From Solomito’s Facebook page:
With regret to our fans I’m here to announce that I will no longer be driving the Anderson Motorsports 15/48 car. I cannot thank Wayne and Joette Anderson enough for the opportunity they gave me a few years ago. I’m glad I was able to achieve many wins in the 15, and get them their first Track Championship as car owners at Riverhead Raceway last season. Unfortunately the team and myself are moving in two separate directions at this time.
I would like to continue running the Whelen Modified Tour on a more consistent basis, and Wayne and his team would like to focus more on competing full time at Riverhead. Trying to run both schedules with limited help was becoming a strain on myself and the team. My family is the most important thing in my life at this point and the countless hours in the shop each week made it difficult to spend time with them. This was a mutual decision by both parties and I wish Wayne, Joette, the team and new driver nothing but the best moving forward. Thank you to all of our sponsors for providing us the opportunity to go racing each week, especially Eastport Feeds and the Corwin family.
I will continue to seek any and all opportunities to continue racing on the Whelen Modified Tour, we hope to be at Stafford for the next tour race on Aug. 4th. Thank you to all of our fans for your continued support, hopefully we will be back on the track for you soon.
