Disqualifications and results from Bowman Gray Saturday

Mike Speeney and John Holleman IV split a pair of Madhouse Victories, more inspection drama and the mourning of a track mainstay were all the storylines to come out of Bowman Gray Stadium on Saturday night.

Tim Brown was fastest in Madhouse Modified qualifying but Speeney drew the pole and led flag-to-flag in the first race ahead of Brown and Burt Myers.

In the second 50-lapper, Slate Myers, son of Burt Myers moved Randy Butner out of the lead on Lap 28 but had the move repaid on Lap 46. Butner would then be spun out by Holleman two laps later. Holleman would go on to win a one lap shootout over Trey Huchens and Speeney.

Disqualifications in Sportsman

After winning first Sportsman twin, Zack Ore was disqualified for refusing a tear down in post-race technical inspection. Amber Lynn was flagged the winner of the second twin but was also disqualified for refusing to report to inspection after the race.

As a result, Tommy Neal and Mitch Gales were declared the official winners of the races on Saturday.

In the first 20-lapper, Dylan Ward leads 19 1/2 laps before Ore sent him around to be the flagged winner. Ore was flagged ahead of Neal and Chase Robertson. This was also the race in which the fatal Robbie Brewer crash occurred.

Lynn won the second feature by taking the lead on the sixth lap and leading the rest of the way ahead of Gales and Robertson. This was, of course, before the inspection process played out.
