After a one-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Thunder Road Harley-Davidson 200 is returning to South Boston Speedway on Saturday with an impressive entry list.

Nearly three-dozen drivers have submitted an entry to participate in the first leg of the Virginia Late Model Triple Crown that include regulars from the CARS Tour and track champions from around the East Coast.

Among the favorites for the Thunder Road Harley-Davidson 200 is five-time South Boston track champion Peyton Sellers, who has won the event twice during his career, including its most recent running in 2019.

Fellow track champions in Timothy Peters and Justin Johnson are looking to disrupt Sellers’ momentum from a stellar 2021 season at South Boston along with 2016 ValleyStar Credit Union 300 winner Mike Looney and Bobby McCarty, who has won the CARS Late Model Stock Car Tour title twice.

Super Late Model standout and current full-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Chandler Smith will be driving a car fielded by Justin Johnson Racing  for Saturday’s 200-lap feature after previously winning with the organization at Tri-County Speedway on May 15.

Also entered for the race is 2017 Langley Speedway track champion Matt Waltz, who is returning to Late Model Stock competition after a four-year absence, and four-time South Boston Limited Sportsman champion Danny Willis Jr..
