Connor Hall remains undefeated at Langley Speedway in Late Model Stock competition this season.
Eight NASCAR Weekly Series wins
One CARS Tour win
TWIN NO. 2 RECAP
The No. 77 has now swept all four NASCAR Weekly Series races in Hampton, Virginia this year after yet another sweep on Commander’s Cup Saturday. He dominated from the pole in the first race and won from an eight car invert in the second race.
He had to survive a restart with six laps to go but he was unmatched all night.
“I carried em late in the restart box the first time and that taught me I needed to be a little quicker on the second one,” Hall said. “But really, this car turns like hell. I have so many people to thank. Chad Bryant Racing, Steven Civitarese. Just so many people and I’m sorry I can’t get to all of them.”
Hall started eighth and was running fourth by the start of the third lap. By Lap 8, he was around Mark Wertz for third. He passed Justin Carroll for second three laps later and was in the lead by Woody Howard on a Lap 15 restart.
The only major incident of the night transpired on Lap 25 when Justin Carroll spun from third place due to contact under and behind from Greg Edwards. Under caution, Carroll drove back up the field and expressed his displeasure.
TWIN NO. 1 RECAP
Make that eight wins, and seven in NASCAR Weekly Series competition, at Langley Speedway for Connor Hall who led wire-to-wire in the first of two 75 lap Late Model Stock races on Saturday night.
Hall, driving his family-owned No. 77, drove away from Greg Edwards and Ryan Matthews in lapped traffic to continue his clean sweep of every Late Model Stock race held in Hampton Virginia this season. That’s in addition to the CARS Tour race that he also won earlier in the month.
Greg Edwards challenged Hall early in the race, and ran a quick pace throughout the race, and it kind of leaves Hall wondering what both of them might have for the second feature with the eight car invert.
We were just trying to ride, and I wasn’t sure why he did that at all,” Hall said of Edwards. “I wasn’t sure about the race craft really. I guess he thought he had something for us. He’s getting better and we’re going to work to get better too. The heat is throwing us for a loop.”
Edwards went on to finish second and Ryan Matthews completed the podium in a race that went clean and green.
Hall will start the next race in eighth but on the outside of row four with a car that does roll well on the outside.
“I definitely think we’ll be good,” Hall said. “Greg wanted to go a quicker pace than I did but I didn’t want to roll over either. We’ll see what that leaves us for race 2.”
