Kevin Harvick adds two Late Model starts this summer

Kevin Harvick is about to clock out from his NASCAR television analyst job at FOX Sports for the next eight months and that is allowing him to get back behind the wheel for a pair of short track events this summer.

First, Harvick will make his debut at Five Flags Speedway, home of the prestigious Snowball Derby, in the Southern Super Series race at Pensacola, Florida on June 28, 2024 in the Kevin Harvick Inc Super Late Model. He has also added the CARS Tour event at North Wilkesboro Speedway on August 3, 2024.

The races have a cool factor for another reason as it also features a reunion between Harvick and longtime sponsor Anheuser-Busch, who will place the Busch Light brand on the No. 62 car in both events.

“I’ve actually never driven a straight rail Late Model before,” Harvick said on his Happy Hours show. “I’m probably going to get my butt kicked but I’m doing this just for fun. It doesn’t matter if I finish first or if I finish last, I’m drinking beer. I’m going to go drive a race car, just to have fun, for the first time in a long time.”

He says he’s excited to see the home of the Snowball Derby but also that he doesn’t want to run that race ‘because I’m not looking for stress, I’m looking for fun.’

Harvick started 19th and finished 11th in his sole CARS Tour start, also at North Wilkesboro. He is also the co-owner of the series alongside Dale Earnhard Jr, Jeff Burton and Justin Marks.

Matt Weaver is the owner and founder of Short Track Scene. Weaver grew up in the sport, having raced himself before becoming a reporter in college at the University of South Alabama. He also has extensive experience covering NASCAR, IndyCar and Dirt Sprint Cars.
