David Sell joins Ace Speedway management team

Former 602 Tour, Mischa Sell Memorial promoter joins Altamahaw track with immediate focus on enhancing communication

Veteran racer and former 602 Tour promoter David Sell is lending his experience to Ace Speedway.

Jason Turner, who operates Ace Speedway along with his father, Robert, announced the decision to bring Sell on board in a video post on the track’s Facebook page on Tuesday.  In the announcement, Sell, who is a former racer himself and also promoted the hugely successful Mischa Sell Memorial for several years, said he was excited to get to work.

“I’ve been around, I know people,” Sell said.  “I’ve always wanted the challenge of being at a track in a position like this so I told Jason I would come and help him out.  I know we can do some things, get things growing and being back to where it’s at and even doing a lot of improvements.  We need to improve social media, website, getting information out to the competitors and fans.  That’s very much on the forefront.”

Social media has often been cited by Ace Speedway fans and competitors as an area where improvement was needed.

Ace Speedway gained national attention at the height of the Coronavirus pandemic when the Turners defied restrictions on mass gatherings imposed by the State of North Carolina before being effectively shut down by the state.  The 2021 season also came to an abrupt end as a result of the ongoing Hoosier tire shortage.

In the announcement on Tuesday, Turner announced 602 Crate Modifieds will be eligible for competition at the Alamance County track beginning with the Modified portion of the Rodney Cook Classic on Saturday, November 2.
