Dale Earnhardt Jr. throws it back with Budweiser for CARS Tour start

Dale Earnhardt Jr. will once again reunite with Budweiser for a Late Model Stock race but this time paying homage to his 2001 Major League Baseball All-Star Game scheme in the CARS Tour race at Anderson Motor Speedway on August 16.

Instead of the All-Star Game, this Budweiser wrap is being used to promote the Speedway Classic at Bristol Motor Speedway between the Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds on August 2.

This is a tribute first and foremost to the car that Earnhardt Jr. took to Victory Lane five months after losing his father on the final lap of the Daytona 500.

“It is an incredible opportunity to reunite with Budweiser and Major League Baseball,” said Earnhardt Jr. in a press release “I’ve watched that July 2001 race at Daytona so many times. It’s such a great memory for me. I am excited that we have this chance to collaborate with Bud and MLB to bring that scheme back again because of what it means to me and so many others.”

This also follows the reunion in November at the South Carolina 400 in which Earnhardt drove his primary Budweiser No. 8 paint scheme and font for the first time since the 2007 NASCAR Cup Series season.

“The incredible fan response to Budweiser’s reunion with Dale Jr. last November reminded us just how special this partnership is to racing fans,” said Todd Allen, SVP of Marketing at Budweiser and Bud Light. “This No. 8 Budweiser / MLB All-Star Game-inspired paint scheme pays tribute to one of the most iconic moments in the storied history of Dale Jr. and Budweiser’s partnership. The MLB Speedway Classic is the perfect stage to revive this fan-favorite design, uniting an American racing icon and American beer at a first-of-its-kind MLB event.”

There is also no shortage of merchandise to be consumed from this start too.
