Dylan Zampa goes wire-to-wire in CARS Tour West Limited Late Model return at All-American Speedway

Dylan Zampa returned to CARS Tour West Limited Late Model competition in winning fashion Saturday night at All American Speedway.

The defending division champion led all 100 laps from the pole to win the JM Environmental Wild West Shootout 100, but had to withstand pressure from current championship leader Kenna Mitchell in the closing laps to hang onto the victory.

The win came in Zampa’s first Limited Late Model start in nearly nine months and ended Mitchell’s perfect record at All American Speedway in 2026.

“It was a good race for us,” Zampa said. “I honestly felt like nobody was going to touch us, even if we had a yellow. I was able to maintain about a car length pretty much the last part of the race and I was driving honestly 100% the last 70 laps.

“I feel like it’s still a good win for us. Our main goal this week was to come here and have fun as a group. It’s home court, so you want to try to win in front of a home crowd. We got the win and we’re definitely going to go home and have some fun tonight.”

The Napa native calls the Roseville third-mile home, having won the 2023 Super Late Model and 2022 Limited Late Model track championships at All American Speedway.

Zampa’s last Limited Late Model start came in December 2025 at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway, where a sixth-place finish was enough to secure last season’s CARS Tour West Limited Late Model championship.

“We haven’t driven that car in like nine months,” Zampa said. “So to be able to come out here and just set it up for this track, All American Speedway’s always got a special spot in my heart. I love this track, it’s home court advantage.”

Zampa won the pole earlier in the afternoon and led a field of 19 Limited Late Models to the green flag in the 100-lap feature before pulling away to an early lead.

Tanner Huddleston started third but quickly jumped to second after Skyler Schoppe tagged the wall on the opening lap. Schoppe suffered rear-end damage before his car came to a stop in Turn 2, bringing out the first caution of the race and ending his night early.

Schoppe entered the evening third in the division standings, 31 points back of Mitchell in the championship.

When racing resumed, Zampa once again raced away from the field, putting distance between himself and Huddleston.

Further back, Mitchell was on the charge.

The Clovis native entered the evening with a perfect record at All American Speedway in 2026, winning all 10 races she had competed in at the track this season.

Mitchell qualified 10th on Saturday but worked her way through the field and was inside the top five by Lap 25.

By Lap 30, Mitchell had caught Huddleston for second as the two battled over the next handful of laps.

Mitchell ultimately completed the pass on Lap 35 and began setting her sights on closing the gap to Zampa for the lead.

Kylie Glick also worked her way up the running order early in the feature. The track’s 2024 Jr. Late Model champion started eighth and raced her way into the top five during the first quarter of the race before Joey Iest and Mitchell worked their way past.

The second caution of the event flew on Lap 48 after the field ran 45 consecutive green flag laps, triggering the only competition caution of the race and erasing Zampa’s 2.5-second advantage over Mitchell.

The caution also benefitted Christian Bazen, who entered the evening second in Limited Late Model points, just 26 points back of Mitchell.

The Saugus native fell a lap down early as he fought handling issues but received the free pass under the caution to get back onto the lead lap.

When racing resumed, Zampa and Mitchell began to pull away from the field with the pair separated by only a few car lengths while running nearly identical lap times.

Further back, the battle raged on for fifth as Vito Cancilla, Iest and Nash Youngren found themselves swapping positions and making slight contact with one another lap after lap.

With 48 laps to go, Cancilla moved into fourth with Youngren right behind him. Eight laps later, Youngren and Iest made contact off Turn 4, allowing Cancilla to briefly pull away from the battle.

With 22 laps remaining, Cancilla suddenly gave up the fourth position and went directly into the work area with a mechanical issue, ending his night just short of the finish.

The caution flew once again for debris with 20 laps to go, setting up a final duel between Zampa and Mitchell for the win.

With each passing lap, Mitchell continued to put pressure on Zampa for the top spot, charging the corners and getting right to his back bumper on the exits.

In the end, Zampa withstood the pressure to claim the victory in Roseville and end Mitchell’s perfect season at All American Speedway.

Mitchell, however, finished on the podium for the fifth consecutive CARS Tour West Limited Late Model race, bringing her average finish to a series-best 2.5.

“It was a really fun race,” Mitchell said. “We worked our way up from 10th and when I got to his bumper I was just asking for a little bit more to get him, just a little bit more. But that was a fun clean race.”

Huddleston finished third, earning his first podium finish in the division since the opening race of the season at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in February.

“I needed a race like this,” Huddleston said. “A night where I just was consistent and able to take the car back and work on it. We’ve been kind of tuning this summer and we tried a new setup this time, and obviously it was better than the past.

“A finish like this is really good because we can just get better and better.”

Nash Youngren and Donald Witkowski rounded out the top five.

Kylie Glick finished sixth, followed by Joey Iest, Colton Nelson, Brenden Ruzbarsky and Chase Lopez to complete the top 10.
