Southern Super Series sanctioning Cordele World Crown 300

Daniel Vining

As an extension of a previously announced agreement that has seen the Southern Super Series sanction the Superfest series of Super Late Model races at Cordele Motor Speedway, both parties announced on Wednesday that the agreement would extend to the World Crown 300 in October too.

The track brought the name back for its marquee race last year, then sanctioned by UARA National, but the two sides split earlier in the year and Southern Super Series was brought in to oversee race control, inspection and logistics for Superfest.

Historically, the World Crown 300 was one of the crown jewels of straight rail Late Model racing and was held at the track most recently called Gresham Motorsports Park from 1983 to 2014 before that track was shuttered.

Cordele Motor Speedway was purchased by Greg Noland in January 2024 and brought the name back in devising a marquee Super Late Model event to run alongside Speedfest held every winter.

With the Southern Super Series’ infrastructure and support, racers have a quantifiable process in place in choosing to compete from October 24-25. Of note, this is a non-points race for the series and its racers.

“We’re incredibly proud to partner with the ASA Southern Super Series to sanction this year’s World Crown 300,” Noland said. “Tim Bryant and his team operate with the highest level of professionalism, and it’s been a pleasure working with them. This partnership ensures that the World Crown maintains the elite level of competition and integrity that racers and fans alike have come to expect.”

The track and series says schedule, format and purse will be announced in the weeks to come.
