Cordele enters into strategic relationship with Southern Super Series

Cordele Motor Speedway has entered into a strategic partnership with the ASA Southern Super Series as it begins to navigate what its schedule looks like following its split with Ricky Brooks and the UARA.

This means a realignment of the scheduled Super Fest series of Super Late Model races, which will now see a doubleheader on Friday, September 5 and Saturday, September 6 under the ‘Georgia Summer Nationals’ moniker.

These races will now be sanctioned by the Southern Super Series, but as non-points races, while offering a combined $65,000 in total prize money for the competitors. The Friday portion will be headlined by a 75-lap, $7,500-to-win feature and $750 to start and then a 125-lapper on Saturday that pays $10,000-to-win and $850 to start.

Southern Super Series will also provide its technical staff and race control to oversee the competition product.

“These events are a big boost for racers and fans alike,” said Ben Sumner, Operations Manager of Cordele Motor Speedway. “We’re proud to bring this level of racing excitement back to Cordele and continue to grow Super Fest into one of the region’s premier short track racing traditions.”

The Super Fest race scheduled for October 4 will no longer take place but teams that compete in all three will received credit for the bonus money offered for teams in advance of the still scheduled World Crown 300 set for October 24-25.

“We appreciate Cordele Motor Speedway stepping up with a high-quality event that makes logistical and financial sense for our teams,” said Tim Bryant, Director of the Southern Super Series. “This doubleheader weekend is shaping up to be one of the highlights of the year.”
